Ahhh. The Nueces County Republican Party. Hot bed of corruption and hypocrisy. Where do I even begin? The powers that be(TPTB) could not stand the fact that an OUTSIDER beat, by a land slide, the hand picked and groomed choice for county chairman, Mike Bergsma. So what do they do? They withhold any help from the local republican party and cause so many fires as to make the non-paying volunteer position, impossible. Can anyone actually blame ex-chairman Ron McLain for resigning? It’s pretty sad. “All I wanted to do was run the party in a fair way, so that everyone’s voice could be heard. And get the Republican candidates elected” McLain says. But apparently that is not what TPTB wanted. McLain states that they made his job nearly impossible by causing constant problems and withholding any funding. Therefore, it just wasn’t worth the amount of time it was consuming.
Who is McLain’s replacement?
Good question. the official party line is that it is Kimberly Curtis. But is she really just a puppet and Bergsma is the real chairman? You’d have to be either blind or stupid to not believe this. Ms. Curtis, as nice a lady as she seems, is completely clueless as how to run a meeting. I mean she didn’t even know what “call the question” means after being told multiple times. Not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, I’d say. Then she appoints a parliamentarian that has never even cracked a Robert’s Rules of order book in his life(Stith, who lost his election) and a vice chairman (Bergsma) that lost his election by a landslide! Now, come on! Who do they think they are kidding!?! Looks like a snow job and manipulation is coming down the pike. She is so far under the radar, the Caller Times hasn’t even mentioned her yet. The NCRP is not interested in fairness and the true and correct election process. They are interested in control and keeping the neo-cons in office. Further proof of this is that since McLain’s resignation, the NCRP has received at least $18,000 in donations. Also, the sickening slobbering of Judge Neal and Mike Pusley over the new chair. No one ever publicly declared that everyone needs to support and help McLain so that the republican candidates can win. It just constantly becomes more obvious what is going on. The local republican party is not about We The People, they completely IGNORED the will of the people by refusing to work with McLain. It is about this tiny little group of people here, maybe we should call them the local elites, that control how they want things to go. It is about power and yes money. How many of these jokers get tax reductions on their property tax or they or themselves avoid criminal charges and prosecution because of who they are? For example, why wasn’t Mike Scott tested for drugs and alcohol after he crashed his Lamborghini. Why, when people have gone to the DA been told that they could not charge certain people with civil rights violations, because they are to powerful? The big problem is, these people think they are above the law, and they are encouraged to think that because no one has the cajones to stand up to them! The corruption that is going on here in Nueces county is just as bad as what is going on in the rest of the country. The root goes so deep it is almost impossible for most people to even fathom what is really going on. In the case of appointing Bergsma vice-chairman, it’s like letting the fox into the hen house.
Sigh! This sort of slanderous attack has occurred frequently and I have learned that there is no point in a detailed response. The very nature of an anonymous diatribe like this is cowardly and unfair. Let me suggest this, I will be willing to meet with anyone for coffee, a meal, whatever to talk about the slurs made concerning me and the Nueces County Republican Party. Anyone who hides behind a pseudonym like “VigilantCCcitizen” does not deserve a response. I suggest that anyone concerned about what VigilantCCcitizen has said should give a call at 537.6964 to set up a time to meet with me.

I love this! “Meet for coffee”, LOL! That has got to be the biggest load of garbage I have ever heard.
Why would anyone want to meet that snake for coffee? So they can feel like they need to wash their hands and douse their bodies in hand sanitizer? No thanks.
What I want to know is, where did that money go?
When did they have the Executive Committee meet to decide how all that money should be spent?
According to their own bylaws, which are a total joke in and of themselves, the Committee has to decide on how to spend money that is not for everyday expenses, like overhead.
SO tell me this, Mr. Vice-Chairman, when you are called out, in public, for misappropriating money, what will your response be?
Back to “business as usual” (the worst phrase in the English language these days), or are you just really so arrogant that you think people can’t check out your Ethics Commission reports, which FYI are Public Record?
Wow, another anonymous attack. I knew when I responded that this would be the sort of response I would get. As for misappropriating money, we spent the money we had just raised on electing the candidates on our ticket. This is no way a misappropriation. My offer stands for anyone with a sense of decency and fairness to sit and talk about issues and concerns. Call me at 537-6964. I will even provide the sanitizer if needed. The anonymous character assination by bellaconservative (probably Amy) is typical of her crowd.
LOL. I know not of this Amy of which you speak. However, character assassination is what I thought all “good Republicans” of Nueces County practiced. Or was the Lago show not how things work around here?
As for getting candidates elected, I have to ask, how does paying a political consultant thousands and thousands of dollars get candidates elected, when no candidate has listed any in-kind or direct contribution from said consultant or the NCRP in their TEC reports?
Do I smell some sort of cover up?
Also, that is not an everyday expense. Kind of like those door hangers. I have to ask how it is that Blake Farenthold’s campaign can decide how NCRP money is spent? Since when do Federal candidates fraternize with state and local candidates and not violate the McCain-Feingold?
McCain-Feingold gives the county party a $5000 leeway on Federal spending. We have used the door hangers in the last several elections to good effect. Blake helped but did not instigate the hangers. The county party reports all campaign receipts and expenses to the TEC and I am sure that they are done correctly within the law.
Again, I am offering to meet with real people and this is the last response to the cowardly anonymous attacks that I will make on this blog. It went the way I expected with slander, name calling and lies.
So pointing out violations are lies? Interesting choice of words. Perhaps when all of the Republican candidates pointed out the competitor’s Ethics Violations those were lies?
Nobody likes being called names Mr. Bergsma. But aside from a few snide comments, I have stuck to the facts. The truth hurts I suppose.
one last time. you are wrong on the facts but I am not going to debate an anonymous attacker.
Mr. Bergsma, writing anonymously is a long standing American tradition going back to Thomas Paine and Benjamin Franklin. I will reveal my identity to you when and if I choose. Your unwillingness to debate the facts have a lot less to do with my identity than it does with the fact you know that I am 100% correct in my analysis.
You poor victims of my wicked corruption. You are so terrified of my evil power of retribution that you tremble at the thought of sitting across a table from me. Being 100% right is a real burden to someone with such weakness.
Or, grownups talk to each other openly in a civil exchange. You decide.

It is interesting the way you cry babies complain about how poor moRon was mistreated by the “Powers that Be”. He was an incompetant and lazy chairman. He insulted Todd Hunter and Gene Seaman with his appointment of Mary Turney as Vice Chair. She had been very active in Juan Garcia’s campaign against them. After he won 62-38 against Bergsma (not 3-1 as some of you clowns have said) Ron tried to game the representation at the County Convention that would have denied majority rule. When Bertuzzi made sure that as many of Ron’s supporters could go to the state convention as wanted to go, the response was to try to unseat Bob Jones with a punk who said the northern part of the district was corrupt. Then he took four months to present bylaws to the precinct chairs and then it was a set of bylaws that had no checks and balances on the Chairman. He tried games to prevent a vote on a set of bylaws that had checks and balances. He violated Robert’s Rules by refusing to allow a vote to end debate when a motion was made to call the question. This happened several times. Rules are for other people I guess. He finally realized that 75% of the precinct chairs were against his position and he finally gave in.
A couple of weeks later, Mr. McClain resigned. He was not forced out. There is no provision for forcing out a Chairman. He just quit and thank God he did.
McClain was a pathetic fundraiser. He has no clue how to do it and was unwilling to do the work to make it happen. If he had such broad support, he should have gone to his 62% for money. He would not even take calls during business hours. How can he do the Party’s business like that. Ron lied and said that Bertuzzi the party had been left bankrupt. All the bills were paid and money was in the bank. Bergsma would have had no trouble raising the money and he would have given a lot of his own to the Party. During the campaign, Ron said Bergsma was the “Rotten fruit of the poison tree” and that Bergsma’s fundraising had been without integrity. So Bergsma chose to raise money for candidates and let Ron do his own fundraising. You do not get help form someone by insulting them.
Mike Bergsma is a good guy who has made many efforts to reach out to Ron’s crowd and he was slandered in return. I find it interesting that his offer to sit down and talk is met with scorn. My Bible says to sit down and talk with those with whom you have a grievence. Ron had been told that one factor in his lack of support was his refusal to work to end the lawsuit against Bertuzzi, Yowell, Rabb, Lear, Bergsma, Peterson, etal. His supporters lost the case in every venue including the Texas Supreme Court twice because the plaintiffs were wrong on the law and wrong on the facts. The defendants have broad support with those who do work for and give money to the party. As long as the frivolous suit was active, there was no desire to help the leader of the bunch doing the sueing. What discussions I have seen from the Paulista – John Birch bunch about the lawsuit is a pack of lies. They will take one acurate piece of information and embellish if with a bucket of falsehoods. I am sure any response to this comment will do just that.
Lastly, Kimberly Curtis was elected Chair with about 2 months to go before the election. The Party organization was in a shambles with no money,few workers, and a phony Headquarters. In two months, she moved to a great headquarters, raised a great deal of money for the candidate’s campaigns and recruited a horde a volunteers to work for the campaign. She did this with a lot of help from mainstream leaders like Bertuzzi and Yowell and Bergsma. Make no mistake though, she is in charge. She is smart, creative, hard working, generous, organized, good at listening and good at media relations. Kim is very conservative on the issues without condemning someone who disagrees with her on an issue. She has done a great job and will continue to do a great job in the future.
You Ron Paul – John Birch society idiots are the best friends the left have because you damage and obstruct real conservatives. You are dishonest and destructive. How about leaving the real conservatives alone.

Mr. Bergsma also signed up as a blog contributor on the website and has, in fact, contributed under his actual name. I checked the website information and surprisingly enough, Mike Begsma’s IP address is identical to Nueces Conservative’s IP address. I do not feel that Bergsma’s anonymous post deserves a response. I do believe, however, that his posting illustrates the type of rhetoric and divisive behavior consistently exhibited by him and the others that he mentioned during my term as chairman. One must ask: Is this the type of behavior we expect from one of our party leaders?
I resigned over 3 months ago. How about let’s quit beating a dead horse and behave like grown-ups? As I have stated many times, if more effort was spent on party unity and working on the real issues, instead of childish, subversive and divisive games, maybe we could make some serious progress. But it looks like, at least for some people, name-calling and ridicule will continue Ad-nauseum.
Bergsma, why would anyone want to sit down with you and try to work out anything with you when you behave in this way? Are you kidding me? You thump your Bible in your post, yet engage in conduct unbecoming. Instead of being critical and hypocritical, be supportive and unifying. Act in a manner that is consistent with your position. If you can’t, then resign.
You know what my favorite part of this entire tirade is? The part where the person says how Mary Turney single handedly got Juan Garcia elected. Really? Wow, that is one powerful woman. That alone should make you want her on your side!
In all seriousness, I think it is absolutely absurd how people have treated Mrs. Turney. She has been a life long Republican, has worked on many campaigns and has close ties to several high powered Republicans, including former Presidents.
To say she is some sort of turn coat traitor is slanderous garbage. I, for one, will not stand for it any longer!
Why don’t we explore the truth? Such as how more than 90 percent of all of the “Republican” candidates who were just elected in Nueces County were all former Democrats, some as soon as last year?

So let me get this straight…
Every candidate, aside from a few, who were vetted by Bergsma, Bertuzzi, Yowell, etc. that has just won this past election were former Democrats, for their entire lives…yet Mrs. Turney is a traitor for assisting ONE candidate ( who tried to run as Republican but was denied, as well as told some remarkably racist and bigoted comments by the former party chair).
Call the kettle black much? I mean seriously. Where do you people get your ethics from? Car bumper stickers?
OH and one more thing. I love the part about the “Paulistas”. Did you know Blake Farenthold told a constituent at the meet and greet that he would support Ron Paul’s new bill? Food for thought!
